Tombstone, Az was the main stop between St.louis and San Francisco. Actors, Rancher's, Gamblers and vegabond's all engulfed the rich minning town. However Tombstone was originally called Goose Flats. Besides the rich silver trade , Tombstone was made legendary by a gunfight that lasted less then a minute, the O.K Corral. The gun fight accually took place behind the O.K Corral and spilled out onto Fremont St. (the business district). It's amazing how one gunfight on a cold Oct. day could still draw so many people from all walks of life to this little town. Tombstone today is a registered landmark, and one of Arizona's top tourist attractions. In the heart of the town lives the WORLD FAMOUS CRYSTAL PALACE SALOON. It's like stepping back in time. The saloon lasted from the early 1880's till 1914 when prohibition kicked in. At that time it became a music/dance hall. Reopened in the late 20's as a bar but missing it's most lavish decoration ; the beautiful bar. It was taken out during prohibition, sold, destroyed? stories vary. Not untill the early 1960's was a tremendous effort made to rebuild the old bar to size, spec's , and location. Today thanks to it's new owners Kim, Mick and R.J the Crystal breaths stronger then ever. It's a full time job to keep up with this old maiden of the west, but it's worth it. So stop on by and walk were Wyatt did, drink were DOC did and live like they lived......The Crystal Palace Saloon 1879
